Historical Overview

The Faculty of Economic Sciences, Commercial Sciences, and Management Sciences has been accredited by Executive Decree No. 09-11 dated 07 Muharram 1430 corresponding to: January 04, 2009, which included the establishment of the University of Medea. Before this, there was the Institute of Management Sciences, which was established by Executive Decree No. 02-198 dated 25 July 2000, which included the establishment of the university center. Before that, the Department of Management Sciences was just a department among the departments present at the National Electronic Institute in Medea. This department was opened with the Department of Computer Science for Management in the short term training , during the academic year 1998-1999.

After that, at the beginning of the academic year 1999-2000, a Common core in business sciences was opened, followed in the academic year 2002-2003 by the opening of a Common core in economic sciences.

The Institute of Management Sciences, whose name was changed by the Ministry by virtue of Executive Decree No. 06-277 dated 21 Rajab 1427 corresponding to 06 August 2006 amending and supplementing Executive Decree No. 02-198 mentioned above to be called the Institute of Economic Sciences, Commercial Sciences and Management Sciences, which became a faculty starting in 2009 Executive Decree No. 09-11 dated 07 Muharram 1430 corresponding to 04 January 2009 establishing the University of Medea, includes the long-term Common core found in major universities in addition to the short-term management computer science specialization, the last class of which ended at the end of the 2010-2011 academic year, in addition to the (LMD) system, which was generalized at the beginning of the 2010-2011 academic year, the date of the cessation of the classical system.

Now the faculty has four departments, namely:

1- Department of Economic Sciences.

2- Department of Management Sciences.

3- Department of Finance and Accounting.

4- Department of Business Sciences.

It has 09 specializations in the Bachelor’s degree, 10 specializations in the Master’s degree.

About 10,982 students graduated from the faculty with a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in the specializations available at the faculty, and 195 students with a PhD degree.
