Faculty of Science

The Scientific Council of the faculty is an academic advisory body concerned with studying and discussing pedagogical and scientific issues within the faculty. It is considered one of the most important organizational structures that contribute to ensuring the quality of higher education and training.

The Scientific Council aims to support and develop the educational and research process by providing opinions and proposing appropriate solutions regarding study programs, organizing training in various disciplines, and monitoring scientific and research activities at the faculty level. It also contributes to improving pedagogical performance and developing curricula in line with quality requirements and academic standards.

The Scientific Council is composed of professors and representatives from various departments and specialties, and it works in coordination with the faculty administration according to regulatory texts that define its duties and operating procedures. Among its most important responsibilities are examining accreditation and academic promotion files for professors, proposing the organization of scientific conferences and seminars, and contributing to the promotion of scientific research.

The Council also ensures the consolidation of key principles in its work, mainly: participation, transparency, fairness, and an open-door policy, ensuring the involvement of various academic stakeholders in scientific decision-making.

The Scientific Council of the faculty meets in ordinary session once every three months upon convocation by its chairperson. It may also meet in extraordinary sessions either at the request of its chairperson or at the request of two-thirds of its members.

Functions of the Faculty Scientific Council:

The Faculty Scientific Council carries out a set of scientific and pedagogical tasks, the most important of which are:

  • Providing opinions on educational programs and curricula and proposing improvements.
  • Studying and organizing training in various disciplines and academic pathways.
  • Monitoring and evaluating scientific and research activities within the faculty.
  • Examining applications for academic qualification and promotion of professors and issuing opinions on them.
  • Contributing to the establishment of quality standards in higher education and improving pedagogical performance.
  • Proposing the organization of conferences and scientific seminars and encouraging scientific research.
  • Providing opinions on all scientific matters submitted to it by the faculty deanery.

The Scientific Council is a fundamental framework for ensuring the development and improvement of the educational and research process within the faculty.
