Library of the Faculty of Technology

Library Overview:

The Faculty of Technology Library is an academic library primarily dedicated to supporting scientific research by providing scientific resources and references for faculty members, researchers, and students. It was established following the division of the Faculty of Science and Technology into two faculties: the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Technology in 2016. As a result, each faculty now has its own independent library, whereas previously, there was only one library for both faculties, known as the Faculty of Science and Technology Library, until 2017.

Library Building:

The library building consists of four floors with three wings and has a total capacity of 500 seats.

Ground Floor:

Includes a book storage area and five offices:

  • Inventory Office
  • IT Office
  • Three offices for automated book processing

First Floor:

Divided into two wings:

  • First Wing:
    • Loan desk
    • Reception and guidance office
    • Bibliographic search area
  • Second Wing:
    • Second loan desk
    • Reading room

Second Floor:

Divided into three wings:

  • First Wing:
    • Reading room for undergraduate students (Room 02)
    • Drawing room
  • Second Wing:
    • Reading room for undergraduate students (Room 01)
    • Reading room for master’s students
  • Third Wing:
    • Internet room for master’s students

Third Floor:

Divided into three wings:

  • First Wing:
    • Library Manager’s Office
    • Meeting Room
    • Reading room for undergraduate students (Room 03)
  • Second Wing:
    • Internet room for undergraduate students
    • Faculty reading room
  • Third Wing:
    • Internet room for faculty members

Library Services:

The Faculty of Technology Library consists of two departments:

1. Bibliographic Research and Guidance Department

Responsibilities:

  • Guiding and assisting students in accessing various information resources
  • Managing internal and external loan services for library materials
  • Overseeing student registration in the library
  • Issuing clearance certificates for graduating students
  • Managing the submission of graduation theses
  • Organizing and maintaining book storage areas
  • Preparing reports and statistics on borrowing activities

2. Documentation Management Department

Responsibilities:

  • Selecting new library acquisitions in coordination with the Book Selection Committee
  • Cataloging and inventory management of library resources
  • Automated processing of library holdings
  • Digitization of materials (barcode generation + book index scanning)

Library Working Hours:

The library is open from Sunday to Thursday, 08:00 AM – 05:00 PM.

The Faculty of Technology Library houses a diverse collection of resources, as outlined below:

Library System and Policies:

The Faculty of Technology Library uses the SYNGEB (Système de Gestion de Bibliothèque) automated system for managing its documentary resources.

Book Classification:

The library organizes books using the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) system.

Loan System:

The library follows two types of borrowing systems:

  1. Internal Loan: (Only available for in-library use)
    • Encyclopedias
    • Dictionaries
    • Theses
    • Journals
    • Books with a single copy
  1. External Loan:
    • Faculty members & master’s students: Up to three books for 15 days
    • Undergraduate students: Up to two books for a maximum of 7 days

Library Location:

The library is located at the main entrance of Yahia Fares University, in the urban pole, directly across from the bus station in Médéa. (See the map for details.)
