The Rector of the University of Medea and President of the Regional Conference of Central Universities, Professor Djaafar Bouarouri, along with the President of the National Committee for Free Software, presided over the opening ceremony of the Summer School “Linux and Free Software”, hosted by the University from July 20 to 24, 2025.
This scientific and training event brings together around 200 doctoral students from various universities across the country, representing diverse scientific and technical fields, highlighting the national scope of the initiative and underlining the importance of continuous training in the field of free and open-source software.
The Summer School aims to strengthen the capacities of doctoral researchers in the fields of open-source operating systems, free programming, and information security through hands-on workshops and lectures led by experts, academics, and members of civil society involved in the free software culture.
This event is part of the strategy of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to promote digitalization and develop national competencies in information technology, while fostering scientific cooperation and openness to the knowledge society.
